More often than not, things will usually notice you first out here.
I learned that today… studying the desert plants around me so I could later identify them.
I was crushing creosote leaves for that desert rain smell as I went
I stopped- grabbing a fresh batch.
Seemingly strange behavior to a western diamondback rattlesnake.
Making itself known in the shrub about 3 feet away.
Funny how I would’ve never noticed it if it hadn’t revealed itself.
Even when I thought I was paying attention.
