I hate the desert.
It’s barren, and lifeless, and plays tricks on you.
On my walk today, I heard what sounded like dozens of birds in the small trees. Turned out to be a single Northern Mockingbird… tricking me.
And the trees… they’re the same as the shrubs all around me at my campsite.
In a sense, I’ve been in a dry, miniature forest of Whitethorned Acacias and Honey Mesquites this whole time.
Full of life.
The desert tricks you.
Maybe I don’t hate the desert so much.
I think I just hate that it took me 3 months of being here to realize this.
